We are committed to our goal of “Connecting People and Inspiring Performance.” The Business Development Manager will collaborate with our internal recruiters,  marketing team and CEO, to identify, engage and secure net new business by partnering with key executive level decision makers in small to mid-sized companies ($3m - $300m).

The Business Development Manager will be charged with…

  • Understanding the full sales and marketing organizational chart, spanning all levels of these functions and how they interact with one another
  • Sourcing and closing net new business, focusing on the SMB market (revenues of $3m - $300m) in San Diego and Orange County across multiple industries
  • Leveraging personal and firm-wide connections to begin outreach to targeted prospects, introducing our recruiting services (Executive Search, TalentAccess Portal and TalentAccess Sourcing) and soliciting client feedback
  • Developing target list of prospective clients based on recently completed searches, talent pool, industry, location, etc.
  • Attending networking events in SD and OC
  • Scheduling meetings with prospects, focusing on heads of sales and marketing, business owners/CEOs, and referral partners
  • Scheduling 8-12 meetings/week by the end of 90 days
  • Delivering 6-8 proposals by the end of 90 days
  • Securing 2-3 searches by the end of 90 days
  • Leveraging the firm’s digital assets, to be used when securing meetings with prospects including:
    • Infographics
    • Salary Guide
    • Blogs
    • SMLA
    • SMLY Awards
    • Speaking engagements
    • Case studies

You will be successful in this role if you…

  • Possess 5-10 years of sales experience
  • Have recently worked in a service organization, offering solutions to the SMB market ($3m-$300m)
  • Have a proven ability to successfully prospect and communicate with business owners, CEOs, Sales & Marketing leaders
  • Can demonstrate your track record of closing business relying on a “value and a high-touch approach”, rather than “low price” solution
  • Are effective in an environment where the average sales cycle is 3-6 months with a complex upfront qualifying process
  • Have operated effectively in a remote, autonomous and self-directed culture
  • Can effectively showcase your track record of securing meetings and ultimately closing business by leveraging your – and your colleagues’ – networks and business community
  • Are an outgoing, engaging, highly articulate and collaborative sales professional
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously, are able to admit mistakes and shortcomings and are willing to ask for help and support in order to best serve our clients and candidates

  • You have been successful working remotely
  • Are self-driven, able to operate without micromanagement, and highly articulate with a proven ability to think on your feet
