Our client is a PE backed, product-based manufacturer. Leveraging their blended “go-to-market” strategy that utilizes both in-house sales reps and external manufacturer reps across the country, they offer customized products to new and legacy clients. The company solves complex customer issues by leveraging its refined supply chain and operating footprint, sourcing product inputs both domestically and internationally, and utilizing a long-term network of low-cost suppliers. By leveraging their extensive list of legacy clients, introducing innovative new product offerings, and cross-selling to untapped divisions and sister companies, the organization is well-positioned to increase their market share in the coming quarters.

In this role…

The CEO will serve as a “thought Partner” to the Board, and PE firm. Utilizing his/her skills in sales, strategy, marketing, product development and business management, the successful candidate will make a significant impact on the future of the business. He/she will be given full autonomy to enhance and build out the functional units of the business as they deem appropriate, with a focus on revenue expansion and brand building. The CEO will contribute to the development and growth of the business, by applying his/her proven track record for effective multi-departmental management and metric-driven leadership.

What you will be doing:

  • Driving company growth and profitability
  • Assessing the team and processes to identify relevant gaps in the enterprise
  • Identifying and recommending strategies for streamlining the operation, enhancing the technology where appropriate and implementing new initiatives to increase efficiencies
  • Playing a hands-on sales management role with respect to growing relationships within key customers while working with the sales team to identify new, consistent and high-margin opportunities
  • Developing a focused corporate strategy, that ties directly to the company’s target customers
  • Defining and evaluating performance and current MBOs of all executive team members per the established policies and objectives of the company, making necessary recommendations for appropriate adjustments in expectations and structure
  • Oversee and take part in public relations and external communication activities that support the company’s strategy and desired positioning
  • Leading the following direct reports:
    • CFO
    • Operations Manager
    • Head of Engineering
    • VP Sales
  • Instilling a sense of accountability and a heightened sense of urgency among the key internal stakeholders
  • Motivating current and future team members to innovate and operate in a proactive manner
  • Establishing a lead generation and follow up system to encourage proactive sales, rather than reactive order taking, including the revision of the sales compensation plan and marketing department
  • Scaling the staff and infrastructure to support the expansion of the business
  • Interacting with and updating the board through monthly and quarterly meetings

Ideal candidates' qualifications and experience:

  • Proven business leader with demonstrable track record of driving profitable top-line growth, improving efficiencies and enhancing market share
  • Career that emphasizes a deep knowledge of revenue, branding and operational excellence
  • Recent experience operating in a leadership capacity for an SMB business ($10m - $50m)
  • Recent experience reporting to the Board of Directors
  • History of expanding market share, while broadening sales across legacy customers
  • Evident success as the President or CEO of a PE-backed enterprise or recent experience leading a $10m+ business through sale to PE firm, industry strategic or comparable M&A transaction
  • Recent experience leading operations for a product-based electronics manufacturer or other technology manufacturing firm
  • A financially savvy and politically astute leader with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Mix of B2B sales management and channel sales
  • Experience in a business with a diverse customer base, spanning a minimum of 4 sectors
  • Acquisition evaluation and integration experience
