The newly created Director of Sales position will have the opportunity to put their fingerprints on the future of this firm. Tasked with crafting, developing and ultimately executing a playbook to build and deploy a world-class outbound sales team, the successful candidate will greatly contribute to the firm’s growth trajectory.

Complementing the existing channel partner sales strategy, this position will collaborate with the Heads of Product Development, Marketing, Client/Account Management, Customer Service and other members of this innovative and highly passionate team. Responsible for executing the business strategy/plan to drive profitable outbound sales across the U.S., this role requires an individual with proven ability to build, manage, mentor and lead a geographically dispersed national Sales Team charged with securing net new clients. 

In this role, you will…

  • Provide a hands-on leadership style to deliver profitable sales growth across the U.S.
  • Create, develop, present and ultimately execute a playbook for sourcing, contacting and securing new business in the SMB market
  • Build and manage a high caliber, scalable and proven sales team to drive category growth by presenting market-leading SEO and Paid Media campaigns 
  • Monitor employee performance including management of Key Performance Indicators; develop employees through coaching, mentoring and the provision of developmental opportunities
  • Foster a winning culture of open communication and teamwork with the team
  • Contribute market intelligence that enhances the effectiveness of the product development team, pricing group and account managers
  • Create and track relevant and optimal KPIs
  • Prepare sales forecasts, sales reports and budgets
  • Ensure successful and timely execution of new product introductions and promotion calendar
  • Take responsibility for monthly sales results – ultimately accountable for meeting annual sales targets and KPI’s
  • Participate as a key member of the senior management team in establishing and delivering on the strategic sales goals for the organization
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry, market trends, emerging technologies, potential partners, competitive products and best practices
  • Build strategic alliances and business development with key referral partners
  • Maintain market awareness by measuring KPI’s including market share, on-line consumer scores, customer service feedback
  • Regularly attend trade events and customer meetings

You will thrive in this role if you possess…

  • 5-10+ years of progressively senior sales leadership roles focused on outbound, outside sales
  • Recent experience working for a marketing agency or similar business offering specialized discretionary solutions in a B2B environment
  • Proven performance selling a mid-priced service solution to the SMB market
  • Demonstrated success building and managing an outbound sales team from the ground up
  • Recent experience developing and executing a sales “playbook”, presenting the strategy to the executive team and ultimately executing the strategy
  • Solid networking and relationship-building abilities and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain trust with strategic partners, suppliers, and customers
  • A proven ability to operate in a fast paced, highly fluid and deadline driven environment
  • Deep understanding of the marketplace, equipping you with the ability to develop a relevant, efficient, timely and direct, go-to-market sales strategy
  • A history of effectively work on multiple tasks, keeping track of projects and monitoring progress
  • Ability to accommodate necessary minimal travel
  • College-level studies in business administration, marketing or similar
